JR McCoury, Owner and Operator of Integrated Electrical & Electronic Solutions, brings more than 20 years of hands-on experience in the electrical and construction trades. Known throughout Avery County and the surrounding Appalachian region for his strong work ethic, reliability, and dedication to quality, JR has built his company on the same values that have guided his career from the very beginning.

JR began his journey in the skilled trades through an HVAC apprenticeship, where he first developed a strong understanding of construction systems and jobsite operations. His early experience soon led him into the field of low-voltage systems, specializing in alarm and security camera installations. Through hard work and determination, JR quickly established himself as one of the top installers in the county. His growing reputation and technical ability eventually led him to work with Heather Buchanan Electric, where he served as a lead electrician until earning his electrical license and founding Integrated Electrical & Electronic Solutions in 2012.

JR started the company with a simple goal: to build a better and more sustainable life for his family while doing work he truly enjoys. His passion for the electrical trade, combined with a commitment to professionalism and quality craftsmanship, has helped establish the company as a trusted electrical contractor serving Avery and Watauga Counties.

Although he now serves communities throughout the North Carolina High Country, JR’s roots run deep in the region. He grew up just across the state line in Roan Mountain, Tennessee, where he graduated from Cloudland High School. He later continued his education at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Elizabethton, studying electrical systems and further developing the skills that would shape his career.

Beyond his work in the field, JR is widely respected for his dedication to helping his community. Following Hurricane Helene, he went out of his way to assist local families by providing generators to those in need, offering “pay-what-you-can” service calls for storm-damaged homes, and even rewiring homes at no labor cost for families facing hardship. For JR, serving his community has always been just as important as running a successful business.

JR has been married to his wife, Brandie McCoury, for more than 20 years, and together they have raised a son and a daughter , Brayden and Jayden. Brayden has already begun following in his father’s footsteps and is a hardworking and dedicated member of the Integrated Electrical & Electronic Solutions team. Outside of work, JR enjoys automotive projects, particularly the custom modification of import and performance vehicles.

At the core of JR’s approach to business is a simple philosophy: never cut corners and always make sure the customer is satisfied. As he often says, “Never say you can’t without trying. Always give it your all, no matter what you do.” This mindset continues to guide both his work and the company he built from the ground up..
